Yesterday, Janie (my better half) set off on a kind of Busman’s Holiday. Here at Chez Castillon we host, among other things, Writer’s Retreats, but she has left SW France for South Wales to take part in a Writer’s Retreat. It’s not as daft as it sounds, as she will be writing, rather than cooking, clearing and cleaning etc.
So, I am abandoned here at CC, feeling very grateful that the BBC have laid on some live FA cup football.
Well done Cambridge United, who have earned a replay against the mighty Man U. at Old Trafford.
However, although that means that some of my viewing is sorted, I still have meals to consider. I’m not a bad cook…even if I say so myself…but I always find it a little bit sad, to go to too much trouble, just for myself. So, I could pop round the corner to the fabulous, family run and extremely reasonable restaurant (wine at 3.5 euros a litre) for lunch today. This has the added attraction of being served by the stunning Priscilla! I must quickly add, in my defence, that Priscilla never makes as much fuss of me, as her husband (tall, young, Spanish, ex-professional dancer) does of Janie!! Anyway, another option is… a ready meal. Intermarche have recently started stocking some tasty looking boxed meals on the shelves, but this is just a ridiculous and unhealthy choice which wouldn’t be making use of the lovely fresh produce available here. OK. Another idea has just popped into my mind…not quite local…from a bit further South…and across the sea. We are lucky enough to have a tiny Moroccan take-away just down our Rue in Castillon with the answer….a KEBAB!
